The Government of India has setup the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) at NITI Aayog. Realising the need to create scientific temper and cultivate the spirit of curiosity and innovation among young minds, AIM proposes to support establishment of a network of Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATL). ATL is a work space where young minds can give shape to their ideas through hands on do-it- yourself mode and learn innovation skills. The vision is to ‘Cultivate 1 Million children in India as Neoteric1 Innovators’.
Al Haramain English School, Puthiyangadi happens to be the only school in Calicut Corporation eligible for the establishment of Atal Tinkering Lab out of the 29 schools in Kerala. The brilliant ten minute presentation in the ATL challenge round by the 3 students of Al Haramain at Osmania University, Hyderabad enabled the institution to fetch this fortune. The challenge was to find a practical solution to a social issue using Science & Technology. Out of 9980 schools from India it was only 32 schools from Kerala who reached the final round and just 3 of them from Calicut got through.

ATL Lab Features:
- Lab facilities open for student community from in and around Al Haramain English School (Open Lab concept)
- Educational facilities of a very high caliber – Vibrant Faculty, STEM Lab, Robotics Kits etc.
- Specific time periods included in the curricula of different grades in the school working hours
- Students can come after working hours of the school to experiment and tinker.
